You believe it or not, but we all have entered into knowledge economy slowly & steadily. In today’s world, if you have knowledge, you can be millionaire/billionaire easily. Some of the well known examples are: Bill Gates(Microsoft), Steve Jobs(Apple), Larry Ellison(Oracle) etc. They all were school/college drop-outs but built very BIG software companies based on their passion and knowledge. There are many such examples available where knowledge seekers got tremendous wealth rather than college-degree seekers.
We all know that traditional school/college education is not really enough to face real business world challenges. So, the point is: We really need alternative knowledge source, which can be used by anyone and if possible freely available(because if cost is attached to education, it cannot be reached to huge mass).
Now, the BIG question is: Is there any alternate knowledge source available which gives practical real world information and freely available? The answer is: YES – the YouTube.com. YouTube.com was started by 3 college graduates and then bought over by Google. As of today, YouTube.com is becoming world’s largest free gold mine of knowledge. Millions of people create interesting & knowledgeable videos, share them with the whole world online and of course free of charge.
For school children, Salman Khan(Not bollywood actor but passionate individual in California,USA)) created more than 3000 videos and uploaded on YouTube.com. All those videos are free to see, download it and use it the way you want. Must Watch Web-site. See: http://www.KhanAcademy.org
Another great knowledge source is available through videos at: TED.com. World’s best speakers have given speeches at TED conferences and all those inspiring/informative videos are available absolutely free of charge at http://www.TED.com
All teachers/parents/students can watch these free videos (From http://www.YouTube.com, http://www.KhanAcademy.org, or http://www.TED.com) and educate themselves in their free time.
One of the mostly used tool – Powerpoint Slides are also going online. (See: http://www.Slideshare.net). Thousands of people upload interesting & knowledgable powerpoint slides online free of charge and even create videos out of it.
In short, huge amount of knowledge is getting available online free of charge everyday. In today’s fast internet world, there are lots of softwares also available, using which anyone can create nice small videos, upload it on Youtube and share with the whole world. The possibilities are unlimited and its just the beginning…
